Holmes, Lai, and Outerbridge join Somerhalder in Netflix series V-Wars

A couple months ago, it was announced that actor Ian Somerhalder was moving on from his Vampire Diaries days to a different vampire television series, Netflix's V-Wars. Now a supporting cast is being built up around him, with three more actors having signed on so far.

Based on the IDW comic book created by Jonathan Maberry, V-Wars tells the story of the Vampire War, which seems like promising subject matter for a series. Somerhalder's character is

Dr. Luther Swann, who enters a world of untold horror when a mysterious disease transforms his best friend, Michael Fayne, into a murderous predator who feeds on other humans. As the disease spreads and more people are transformed, society fractures into opposing camps pitting normal people against the growing number of these “vampires.” Swann races against time to understand what’s happening, while Fayne rises to become the powerful underground leader of the vampires.

Adrian Holmes is taking on the role of Swann's friend Michael Fayne, whose "natural charisma, quick thinking, and natural strategic sense lead him to assume a critical role as a leader of the growing vampire faction in a struggle that threatens to tear society apart."

Also in the cast is Jacky Lai, who will be playing the key role of Kaylee Vo, "a struggling young online journalist – a would-be Assange who will do or say almost anything to advance her career. A fierce, funny, hustling fringe player, she breaks the biggest story imaginable and soon finds herself a key part of that story with a growing list of deadly enemies", and Peter Outerbridge of SAW VI and LAND OF THE DEAD as Calix Niklos, who not only has an interesting name but also happens to be "an elegant, malicious science expert on the Homeland Security Team."

Produced by High Park Entertainment in association with IDW Entertainment, V-Wars is being executive produced by Brad Turner, who is directing the pilot episode, along with Eric Birnberg, Thomas Walden, David Ozer, Ted Adams, and James Gibb. William Laurin and Glenn Davis are the showrunners.

Netflix has ordered a first season of ten hourlong episodes.
