Whooooooooo! Put your hands in the air! Now make a ridiculous face for when they snap a $25 group photo of us during the big drop!
Are you ready to soar like WONDER WOMAN in flight? San Antonio's Six Flags Fiesta Texas certainly hopes so, because they've got plans to open a Wonder Woman: Lasso of Truth roller coaster in 2018! As a part of the attraction's development, Rocky Mountain Construction is set on building the company's first publicly rideable single-rail design. Furthermore, as the ride loop-de-loops it's way around a sizable area, eight-passenger trains will carry riders across a 15.5-inch-wide steel track (which Rocky Mountain Construction has dubbed “IBox”), up 113 feet and down a 100-foot, 90-degree drop. The course also features three inversions and multiple overbanked turns, hitting speeds of 52 miles per hour.
"I expect it to be crazy smooth," exclaimed Larry Chickola, Six Flags VP and chief corporate engineer. "And crazy fun. There will be extremely quick twists and turns – quicker and smoother than regular coasters." In talking about it further, Larry reiterated a few more times that he expects the ride to be "velvety smooth", and those worried about the cars being on a "monorail" would be unwise to associate the attraction with the typically slow-moving mode of transportation.
For the ride, the coaster will weave its way through a multi-hued quarry wall that surrounds the park itself. Additionally, instead of using wood to construct the ride's lattice-like timber structer, Rocky Mountain Construction will use steel supports. However, those supports will appear extraordinarily thin, to give the attraction an overall ribbon-like guise. For the cars themselves, each car on the track will have a single seat, leaving the rider free to take in the view from any direction without the visage being hindered by a strangers bald spot or Bugs Bunny-eared novelty hat.
Check out some of the exhilerating twists and turns you'll be making when you ride the Wonder Woman: Lasso of Truth coaster:
Jeffrey Siebert, president of Six Flags Fiesta Texas, remarked that it's going to be "odd to go upside down on such a tiny track. It will feel like you're riding Wonder Woman's whip." Additionally, while waiting in line for the attraction, patrons of the park will cross paths with a crashed airplane, Greco-Greek architecture, and other references to the world of Diana and her sisters of the Amazon island, Themyscira.
Well, I sure picked a fine time to move all the way to Canada, eh? Anyway, y'all best start saving your Coca-Cola bottles, kids, because you're going to want those sweet "under-the-cap" deals for when Wonder Woman: Lasso of Truth opens at Six Flags Fiesta Texas in 2018!
