Hold on to your sauerkraut, Uwe Boll is about to get political on our asses!

It’s been awhile since we heard from Dr. Uwe “Critics Destroyer” Boll, so it’s about time for a theatrical comeback. Enter BAILOUT – a politically charged tour de force starring Dominic Purcell (PRISON BREAK, KILLER ELITE), Erin Karpluk, Edward Furlong (TERMINATOR 2, AMERICAN HISTORY X), Keith David (THE THING, PLATOON), Michael Eklund (THE DIVIDE, WATCHMEN) and  (of course) Eric Roberts. But don’t take it from us, here’s the official press release from the man himself:

Director, Uwe Boll started shooting his latest film, “Bailout” in Vancouver, Canada and New York City. This project will star Dominic Purcell as “Jim” and Erin Karpluk as his wife, “Rosie”. Edward Furlong, John Heard, Keith David, Michael Pare, Clint Howard, Natassia Malthe, Michael Eklund and Eric Roberts are also featured in supporting roles. “Bailout” will be a stark examination of the effects of the financial crisis on an average American family. Boll, has previously examined the effect of corrupt systems in such films as “Attack on Darfur” and “Stoic”. The stock market meltdown of 2008 financially ruined millions in the western world. While the vast majority suffered, a few profited immensely. “Jim” is pushed to the brink when his investments crumble along with his world. With nothing left to lose, he takes revenge on behalf of himself and others in a dramatic fashion. Dr. Uwe Boll: “I researched the subject matter for 2 years and consulted on the script with financial experts. Inspired by radical movies like TAXI DRIVER, and FALLING DOWN and with the experience of my own movie RAMPAGE I developed an angry, radical movie for all of us who didn’t got bailed out. How can a guy like Richard Fuld run around free, how can 8000 Wall Street bankers who ruined our finances for generations to come still get seven figure bonuses every year?” The production is looking for US distribution with a theatrical release during the election time – this year in october – november where the BAILOUT will be one of the top themes.

In all fairness, the cast is far from unimpressive and Boll demonstrated some real passion for the subject matter. We’ll definitely wait and see how it all turns out. Thanks to Christopher for the knife’s up!
