Over the past year or so we've been hearing a lot of noise about the upcoming HOCUS POCUS reboot/sequel coming from the Disney Channel. Original star Bette Midler says she thinks the movie is a waste of time and will be "cheap" and I agree with her. Until we see a trailer that is.
But for all of us HOCUS POCUS fans out there, we have good news as today the 1993 film will be getting a true sequel… as a book. Yes, a new book will be hitting us right in time for the 25th Anniversary of the movie on July 10, 2018. And today we have the cover art for the book which is being called Hocus Pocus and the All-New Sequel.
Interesting title, you say? Well, that's because the book is a "two-parter" with Part one being "a fresh retelling of the original film", and part two is "a sequel that continues the story of our favorite characters and the next generation of Salem teens."
Here is the official rundown via Disney Books:
Hocus Pocus is beloved by Halloween enthusiasts all over the world. Diving once more into the world of witches, this electrifying two-part young adult novel, released on the twenty-fifth anniversary of the 1993 film, marks a new era of Hocus Pocus. Fans will be spellbound by a fresh retelling of the original film, followed by the all-new sequel that continues the story with the next generation of Salem teens.
Shortly after moving from California to Salem, Max Dennison finds himself in hot water when he accidentally releases a coven of witches from the afterlife. Max, his sister, and his new friends (human and otherwise) must find a way to stop the witches from carrying out their evil plan and remaining on Earth to torment Salem for all eternity. Twenty-five years later, Max and Allison’s seventeen-year-old daughter, Poppy, finds herself face-to-face with the Sanderson sisters in all their sinister glory. When Halloween celebrations don’t quite go as planned, it’s a race against time as Poppy and her friends fight to save her family and all of Salem from the witches’ latest death-defying scheme.
On top of all that, we know that the book is written by A. W. Jantha, illustrated by Matt Griffin and runs 304 pages. You can take a look at the official cover art below and even read an excerpt from the book HERE.
After looking through all of that, make sure to hit us up and let us know how excited you are for this new Hocus Pocus book in the comments below or on social media!
Hocus Pocus and the All-New Sequel will be on sale on July 10, 2018.
