Hivemind has snagged the TV rights for the Image Comics series Gideon Falls

As one of the hottest horror comics of the year, GIDEON FALLS has spent the past several months keeping readers awake at night, while causing others to develop a fear of abandoned barns. Published by Image Comics and written by Jeff Lemire with art by Andrea Sorrentino, GIDEON FALLS tells the story of a reclusive young man obsessed with a conspiracy in the city’s trash, and a washed-up Catholic priest arriving in a small town full of dark secrets, become intertwined around the mysterious legend of The Black Barn, an otherworldly building that is alleged to have appeared in both the city and the small town, throughout history, bringing death and madness in its wake. As the solicit for the series says, the story of GIDEON FALLS is painted as a rural mystery where urban horror collides with paranoia for a character-driven meditation on obsession, mental illness, and faith.

Today, it's been announced that a new production company by the name of Hivemind has acquired the TV rights for the series. Hivemind consists of long-time producing partners Sean Daniel and Jason Brown, Bad Robot's Kathy Lingg and former Valiant Entertainment CEO & Chief Creative Officer Dinesh Shamdasani. As per the deal, Hivemind’s Brown, Daniel, Lingg, and Shamdasani will executive produce the hour-long episodic series in a partnership with co-creators Lemire and Sorrentino. Presently, Hivemind is in the midst of producing THE EXPANSE, which has recently been picked up for another season at Amazon. The up-and-coming studio is also in charge of Guillermo del Toro and director André Øvredal's SCARY STORIES TO TELL IN THE DARK, a film based on the popular horror anthology series.

In the past, Lemire has written a number of successful and emotionally crippling comic works such as Essex County, The Underwater Welder, Royal City, and DC's Animal Man. As for the Italian comic book artist Andrea Sorrentino, his mesmerizing work can be found in the pages of DC's I, Vampire, Green Arrow (written by Lemire), Old Man Logan, and much more. Considered a powerhouse of talent by many comic fans, GIDEON FALLS is definitely a show to keep your eye on and look forward to watching, down the line.
