So it hasn't even been a full day yet, and already the internet is exploding with fan theories about what the latest trailer for Hideo Kojima's ambitious DEATH STRANDING game means, which debuted at this year's Game Awards. The game itself has been turning heads since it was announced at E3 last year, and even moreso when they later released a second trailer starring a pixelated Guillermo del Toro holding a baby in a futuristic canister and a cyborg Mads Mikkelsen.
Now we get the most story-driven trailer yet. While before the trailers were like what would happen if David Lynch binged on anime and absinthe, this most recent trailer is much more standard sci-fi/alien stuff. Not to say there isn't some weird shit in there (a baby smiling inside Norman Reedus' stomach comes to mind), but it's mainly an extended suspense scene of people in futuristic hazmat suits fighting off giant invisible monsters. It's still up in the air what it all exactly means, but it was moody and effective all the same. Can't wait!
No release date as of yet (though Kojima claims to get it out before 2019), but we'll keep you posted on any updates.
