After the shocking events of AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR, in which Thanos' snap wiped out half of the MCU's population, fans of the legendary movie series were left with but a few of their favorite heroes still standing. Since that time, Marvel has been careful not to disclose too much about the film's sequel, tentatively titled AVENGERS 4. However, the internet is chock-full of tricksy individuals, who I'm told delight in the idea of exposing Hollywood secrets before they're meant to be shared with the masses. Recently, a series of high resolution character concept art images belonging to AVENGERS 4 were leaked online, giving us our best look at six of the heroes who were left alive after Thanos' intense display of jazz hands.
Featured in the images are Captain America, Captain Marvel, Hulk, Iron Man, Rocket Raccoon, and Thor. One design that particularly stands out to me is Hulk's new Fortnite-looking black, silver and purple bodysuit. When last we saw the big guy, he'd hidden himself deep down in Bruce Banner's psyche, wounded and broken after Thanos whooped his green ass from Midgard to Knowhere. For AVENGERS 4, it would appear as if the Hulk has made peace with Banner, lending credence to the rumor that Professor Hulk will be featured in the new film.
Moving on down the line, we get great looks at both Captain America and Captain Marvel, who both look stunning and ready to take back the universe. As you can see from the pic, Cap no longer has the Nomad-style beard, which I will surely mourn, as I'd found it quite fetching on him. Oh well, I suppose that I should remind myself that these are just concept photos, and that the characters are likely to undergo plenty of changes before the film officially hits the big screen.
In looking at the rest of the images, we can see that not much has changed with regard to Rocket's attire, which I feel the same can also be said about Thor. On the other hand, Iron Man looks to be rocking a new and sleek design for the new film. The suit almost has a sinewy, exposed muscle sort of vibe to it, right? It kind of makes you wonder where Tony hides all of his wonderful toys.
Rumor has it that a trailer is coming for AVENGERS 4 before the close of 2018, so we won't have long to wait before we see these characters in action. That being said, I can't shake the feeling that this could be the last time we see these familiar faces all in the same place. The Marvel Universe is on the brink of a major sea change, my friends, so soak it all in while you've still got the time.
Let us know what you think of the concept designs in the comments section below, and don't forget to check out both CAPTAIN MARVEL and AVENGERS 4 when they arrive in theaters on March 8, 2019 and May 3, 2019, respectively. Excelsior!
