It’s hard to be so mean to a movie that has both Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore in it. They came together in one of the best comedies of all-time, THE WEDDING SINGER. Maybe 50 FIRST DATES didn’t meet their first team up on the same level, but at least it had a good amount of laughs. But what about their latest effort, BLENDED?
“Is this a sick dream?”
Synopsis:
After a bad blind date, a man and woman find themselves stuck together at a resort for families, where their attractions grows as their respective kids benefit from the burgeoning relationship.
Yes, that’s Shaq.
The second trailer for the film might—I’m stretching this—might be a little better than the first. Some of the same gags are still there, but there are new ones to test on those willing to give it a watch. I always enjoy the music in any of Sandler’s films. That’s good, right? Maybe it’s time to bring back Tim Herlihy? While I wasn’t in love with LITTLE NICKY or GROWN UPS 2, I think I’m willing to look past it. He does have a few films that more than cancel both of those out.
If you’ve given up on Sandler comedy-wise, there is always his return to the more dramatic with Thomas McCarthy’s THE COBBLER and Jason Reitman’s MEN, WOMEN & CHILDREN.
BLENDED hits theaters on May 23, 2014.
