Last month, we heard that Saban Films will be giving writer/director Stacey Gregg’s psychological thriller Here Before a limited theatrical release on February 11, 2022, with a VOD release following on February 15. Now a trailer for the film has arrived online to give us a preview of what Here Before has in store for us. Check it out in the embed above!
Gregg’s feature debut, Here Before stars Andrea Riseborough (Possessor), Jonjo O’Neill (The Fall), Martin McCann (Calibre), Eileen O’Higgins (Brooklyn), and newcomer Niamh Dornan. Along with the trailer, Saban Films has also released a new, lengthy synopsis for the film:
Andrea Riseborough is spellbinding as the distraught mother, haunted by the death of her young daughter, who develops an all-consuming obsession over the neighbor’s girl who she believes is the reincarnation of her child. When new neighbors move in, Laura (Riseborough) is awakened from her mundane daily routine of errands and exercise. She becomes transfixed by their young daughter, Megan (astonishing newcomer Niamh Dornan). Megan’s parents Marie (Eileen O’Higgins) and Chris (Martin McCann), initially don’t seem to mind as Laura offers Megan a ride home from school and an invitation to dinner. Her husband Brendon (Jonjo O’Neill) grows concerned as his wife’s infatuation with the young girl spirals into increasingly erratic behavior. Eerily, Megan seemingly knows far too many specific details of their family life and displays similar mannerisms of their dead daughter. Is the trauma of losing her child causing Laura to lose grip on reality, or is Megan truly the reincarnation of her daughter?
Here Before was produced by Julia Godzinskaya and Sophie Vickers of Rooks Nest. BBC Film, Pia Pressure, and Northern Ireland Screen provided the financing. Eva Yates of BBC Film, Pia Getty and James Durrant of Pia Pressure, and Will Norton of Rooks Nest serve as executive producers.
I’m a fan of Riseborough, so I’ll probably check out Here Before in February. Will you be watching it? What did you think of the trailer? Let us know by leaving a comment below.
