Deadline reports that Amanda Fuller of Orange Is the New Black and Last Man Standing and Dana Snyder, who is best known providing the voice of Master Shake on Aqua Teen Hunger Force, have signed on to star in the zombie movie HERD alongside Corbin Bernsen (The Dentist), Timothy V. Murphy (Sons of Anarchy), Jeremy Holm (The Ranger), Ellen Adair (The Sinner), Jeremy Lawson (Walker), Mitzi Akaha (Archive 81), and Broadway’s Brandon James Ellis.
Steven Pierce is directing HERD and wrote the screenplay with James Allerdyce. The film will tell the story of
a woman who ends up trapped between a zombie outbreak and warring militias as she tries to outrun her past.
Pierce is also producing the film, the first feature being made under his FP banner. Other producers on HERD are Allerdyce, Lori Kay, Matt Mundy, and Bret Carr.
It’s difficult to make a piece of zombie entertainment that doesn’t just show us the same thing we’ve already seen many times before, including on weekly installments of Walking Dead shows, but Pierce has assembled such a strong cast for HERD that I have some hope for this. I look forward to seeing how it’s going to turn out.
Fuller’s previous credits also include Red White & Blue, Creature, Cheap Thrills, Starry Eyes, All the Creatures Were Stirring, Grey’s Anatomy, and an episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Snyder’s voice can be heard in the shows Bob’s Burgers, Squidbillies, The Patrick Star Show, Paradise PD, ThunderCats Roar, Lego Star Wars: All-Stars, The Venture Bros., and Adventure Time. I haven’t seen many of those, but I became a fan of Snyder through a podcast he used to co-host, the Ken PD Snydecast.
