The casting game is afoot for Legendary's ENOLA HOLMES today with news that MAN OF STEEL and MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE – FALLOUT actor Henry Cavill is set to play Sherlock Holmes. The upcoming mystery adaptation already features STRANGER THINGS alumna Millie Bobby Brown as the titular character.
Earlier today, it was announced that Helena Bonham Carter (OCEAN'S 8, THE DARK CRYSTAL: AGE OF RESISTANCE) would be taking on the role of Mrs. Holmes for director Harry Bradbeer's (Killing EVE, FLEABAG) super sleuth project, which is based on "The Enola Holmes Mysteries" novel series by author Nancy Springer.
Coincidentally enough, I've actually read the Enola Holmes novels, long before I started working for JoBlo. The books center around Enola Holmes, the much younger sister of Sherlock and Mycroft Holmes. The series launched in 2006 with the title "The Case of the Missing Marquess" and lasted for a total of six novels, which involved Enola solving a series of crimes while foiling dastardly villains, mysterious murderers, and nefarious ne'er do wells.
In addition to leading the film, Brown will also produce via her PCMA Production label, with Alex Garcia and Ali Mendes overseeing for Legendary. Brown became a top choice for the part of Enola after becoming a teen sensation thanks in part to her role as Eleven for Netflix's STRANGER THINGS. She then went on to star in GODZILLA: KING OF THE MONSTERS, which as you know stomps under Legendary's monumental banner.
Production for ENOLA HOLMES is expected to beginning this summer, with Brown set to reprise her STRANGER THINGS role when Season 3 of the pop culture phenom lands on Netflix this Fourth of July weekend.
