This article contains spoilers for Black Adam!–in case you haven’t seen it or have miraculously evaded spoilers in the social media age…Henry Cavill has revealed more details about Superman, from behind-the-scenes factoids on his Black Adam cameo to what tone the Man of Steel might project in the future.
During a live taping of an episode of the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Brit Henry Cavill spilled the tea, as it were–up to a point. On the topic of writers and directors for the anticipated standalone Superman movie, Cavill said, “Right now I can’t share anything…but in time, I’ll be able to share and everyone will hear all the exciting things to come.” Hm, so much for that!
Still, Henry Cavill was able to share two amusing anecdotes about the Black Adam Superman cameo. One is that the suit he wears in the scene wasn’t made just for the cameo, it’s actually the same one from 2013’s Man of Steel, Cavill’s first outing as Clark Kent. “I chose that one in particular because of the nostalgia attached to the suit…It was incredibly important to me to be standing there and enjoying that moment.”
Henry Cavill also dished on the level of secrecy required to pull off Superman’s cameo, noting that it required him to shoot remotely and get permission from The Witcher’s production team–although he couldn’t tell them what exactly he was leaving for. Surely your star skipping out on a production day for no clear reason would raise some eyebrows…
Cavill also wanted to tease the potential mindset of the Last Son of Krypton. “There is such a bright future ahead for the character, and I’m so excited to tell a story with an enormously joyful Superman.”
What were your thoughts on the Superman cameo in Black Adam? Are you exciting for another standalone Superman movie?
