Henry Cavill does not foresee Justice League happening in the very near future

There has been a lot of MAN OF STEEL talk lately about whether or not the sequel is coming in 2014 or 2015 or if the success of the movie means JUSTICE LEAGUE is back on the front burner. Everything means something and nothing at the same time. But, regardless of whether or not we are getting more DC sooner rather than later, those actually involved in the films have their own take.

Superman himself, Henry Cavill, is an outspoken fan of comics and nerd culture. Frankly, a man that good looking has no right being a nerd because those of us who are average looking don't need the competition. But, having someone who cares about the culture and fanbase surrounding their film makes me feel better about the direction things are going.

Cavill was asked about all of the rumors of the fast-tracked MAN OF STEEL 2 by ABC News reporter Peter Travers and this was his answer.

“Justice League could be great if done correctly. It’s a very tough one to do because the DC Comics heroes are all godlike in their power so in the real-world setting we’re telling our story in it’s going to be tough to achieve that and it has to be done very delicately and with a lot of thought. So it won’t be right away, certainly not, or I hope it’s not anyway. It may take some time building other movies and other characters and then introduce them together in one way or another.”

“I think it would be great to do but I don’t think it’s around the corner.”

Cavill may not have much input when it comes to whether MAN OF STEEL 2 happens next year or not but he and Zack Snyder definitey want to put quality over quantity.  I am sure Warner Bros. is envious of how Disney has rolled out their Marvel films, but just when we assume WB is going to mimic them things could go differently.  The wise decision would be to plan, like Cavill says, and do JUSTICE LEAGUE when they have everything lined up to make it a success, not rush it to make a profit.  But, this is Hollywood, so maybe the rush is exactly what is going to happen.
