Well, this is a surprise! Superman himself, Henry Cavill, has chosen to accept a role in MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE 6. Directed by Christopher McQuarrie, the sixth entry will, of course, see the return of Tom Cruise's Ethan Hunt (whom McQuarrie intends to explore more in-depth) and is said to be looking to bring back other returning castmembers to some capacity, including Rebecca Ferguson, Simon Pegg and Jeremy Renner (although it's currently unknown if Alec Baldwin will return).
Cavill's role is described as "some sort of right hand to the head of the Cruise’s unit", so don't expect a villainous turn. This sounds like a great move for Cavill, who has already cemented himself as Superman, but has yet to branch out beyond that, despite a great turn in the criminally underrated THE MAN FROM U.N.C.L.E. Cavill has a number of other projects on the way, including Netflix's SAND CASTLE, JUSTICE LEAGUE, and NOMIS, as well as what sounds like yet another adventure in the cape with a potential MAN OF STEEL sequel. Oh, and you can check out McQuarrie and Cavill's Instagram exchange below…
MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE 6 is set to go off on July 27th, 2018.
