Oh hell yeah! As Marvel continues to quietly execute their post-AVENGERS: ENDGAME plans, we've just learned via THR that STRANGER THINGS and HELLBOY alum David Harbour will star alongside Scarlett Johansson in Marvel's BLACK WIDOW.
Marvel's second female-led standalone adventure continues to spin-up stars after casting Florence Pugh for the super-spy thriller. The project is set for a June production start in London, with more castmembers expected to be announced in the coming weeks. The film is set to be directed by Australian filmmaker Cate Shortlan, who in 2012 directed the Nazi romance drama LORE.
While details surrounding the plot of BLACK WIDOW are scarce at this time, we do know that the story will have Marvel's Natasha Romanoff going international for her first solo outing. Furthermore, Marvel has yet to reveal who Harbour will be playing in the film. Perhaps he'll arrive as a sinister target that will soon feel the sting of Black Widow's kiss? Or, he'll be introduced as yet another iconic Marvel character. Only time will tell.
As the recent onslaught of advertising would suggest, Harbour is set to star in Neil Marshall's HELLBOY, an R-rated take on the graphic novels by Mike Mignola. In the upcoming adaptation, Hellboy finds himself caught between the worlds of the supernatural and human, as he battles an ancient sorceress bent on revenge. With a screenplay by Andrew Cosby, HELLBOY also stars Milla Jovovich, Ian McShane, Daniel Dae Kim, Penelope Mitchell, and Sasha Lane, among others.
HELLBOY will arrive to fight the apocalypse in theaters on April 12th.
