HELLBOY is one of my favorite films. Its not because I have an awkward thing for Selma Blair or the fact that Guillermo Del Toro is my favorite director, the movie just kicks some major ass. I love that Guillermo Del Toro isn’t scared to make movies about monsters in a world where doing so is essentially looked down upon. So knowing that HELLBOY 2 is on it’s way makes my blood flow.
Now that HELLBOY is over with Universal, the question has been “will Hellboy and the Universal monsters meet face to face?” Well a boyish dream may just turn into reality. Mike Richardson, owner of Dark Horse comics had this to say about HELLBOY 2 and it’s potential predecessor.
“You won’t believe what that movie looks like, it’s a whole different scale…you won’t believe what you are seeing, greatest sets that we’ve ever seen, it’s just huge.”
It shouldn’t come to such a surprise that Universal would want to try to reboot the classic monsters. We asked Mike about the possibility and he answered, “There might be something going on but I don’t think that I can talk about it…there might be something that is being discussed.”
The video interview over at IESB.net shows the way in which Mike Richardson spoke about this idea, and it may not be just a hope and dream. How awesome would it be to see Hellboy, Abe Sapien and Liz Phair fight the classic movie monsters that we have grown up to love? To watch the video, click here.
