Director Neil Marshall's HELLBOY reboot starring David Harbour, Milla Jovovich, and Ian McShane is all set to punch its ungodly way onto digitally and Blu-ray/DVD next month (pre-order HERE). And despite all the bad press the movie got when it was released back in April, I still plan to check it out and possibly buy it on Blu-ray once it hits. But if you are still on the fence about shelling out the cash for the Blu-ray, special features for the upcoming release are said to include some never-before-seen deleted scenes, previsualizations, a three-part documentary titled "Tales of the Wild Hunt: Hellboy Reborn", and more.
On top of all that, it looks like Walmart and Target will each have exclusive releases for the movie as well. You can go ahead and check out all the details on those Blu-ray releases (including slick-ass cover art) right over HERE. Meanwhile, this version of the classic comic book character has been rated R for "strong bloody violence and gore throughout and language" and is written by Andrew Cosby, Christopher Golden, Aron Coleite, and Hellboy creator Mike Mignola. This one finds Hellboy:
along with his team of paranormal researchers, trying to save the world from a medieval sorceress who wants to destroy humankind.
Church and Harbour's co-stars include Milla Jovovich as the villainous Nimue, Queen of Blood, Ian McShane as Hellboy's mentor Professor Broom, Sasha Lane as his love interest Alice Monaghan, Penelope Mitchell as the elder witch Ganeida, Daniel Dae Kim as Major Ben Daimio (who can turn into a jaguar), Sophie Okonedo as the seer Lady Hatton, Alistair Petrie as Lord Adam Glaren of the supernatural mystery investigating Osiris Club, and Brian Gleeson as the wizard Merlin. HELLBOY will be getting released digitally on July 9th ahead of home media July 23rd.
