Recently nominated for his work on David McKenzie's HELL OR HIGH WATER, actor Ben Foster has signed on to star in the survival drama MY ABANDONMENT from WINTER'S BONE director Debra Granik. Also set to co-star in the film is Thomasin McKenzie (THE HOBBIT: BATTLE OF THE FIVE ARMIES).
The film, written by Debra Granik and Anne Rosellini is based on a novel of the same name written by Peter Rock. As the film unfolds, it will tell the story of a 13-year-old girl named Caroline (McKenzie) and her father, Will, who are found living in Forest Park, a cozy rain forest that shares a common boundary with Portland, Oregon. Unfortunately, when the authorities come and snatch them from their solitary living quarters, where they were simply minding their own business, the pair are forced to embark on an increasingly frustrating journey to find a new place to call home.
Producing the film is Anne Harrison (THE DANISH GIRL) through her Harrison Productions company alongside Linda Reisman (THE DANISH GIRL, AFFLICTION) by way of Reisman Productions, and lastly, Anne Rosellini (WINTER'S BONE) through her Still Rolling Productions label. Serving as executive producers on the project will be Bron Creative's Aaron L. Gilbert, Jason Cloth, Andy Pollack (FENCES), and First Look Media's Michael Bloom and Adam Pincus.
I must say, I tip my hat to anyone who is smart enough to build, maintain, and survive off the fruits of their own land. I can't even begin to imagine the magnitude of dedication it takes to pull something like that off. Seriously, there are so many factors to consider. I wouldn't even know where to begin.
As of the moment, there is no date scheduled for the release of MY ABANDONMENT, though you can still catch Ben Foster in HELL OR HIGH WATER which is still playing in select theaters now.
