Hell Naw: Kid Cudi, Euphoria creator Sam Levinson team for action horror comedy

If you don’t know Scott “Kid Cudi” Mescudi for his music, you might know him from his acting roles in films like Bill & Ted Face the Music, X, Don’t Look Up, and House Party. Deadline reports that Mescudi has just lined up his next movie, signing on to star in the action horror comedy Hell Naw – which is being produced by Sam Levinson, creator of the HBO series Euphoria.

Keith and Kenny Lucas, the Oscar-nominated writers of Judas and the Black Messiah, are writing the screenplay for Hell Naw, but plot details are being kept under wraps. All we know at this time is that the story takes place during Paris Fashion Week and there will be zombies.

Mescudi is producing the film with Karina Manashil and Dennis Cummings through their company Mad Solar, while Sam Levinson and Ashley Levinson produce through their company Little Lamb. BRON and H. Wood Films are also producing. BRON’s Aaron L. Gilbert, Brenda Gilbert, and Stuart Manashil serve as executive producers with Kevin Turen, Harrison Kreiss, John Terzian, and Jeremy Allen. Brian Toll is the associate producer.

Mescudi provided the following statement about Hell Naw: “This movie has been 5 years in the making. I am telling the world now, this film will f*ck you up in all the best ways. I have been a horror fan since I was 7 years old. The first horror movies I ever saw were Night of the Living Dead and Evil Dead. And from that point on, I was hooked on the feeling of being frightened. I’ve been wanting to get into this world creating my own stories for a long time and now, and after years of working it out in my head, it’s finally happening. Sam, The Lucas Bros and myself have really crafted a tale we feel everyone who’s a fan of horror and comedy will enjoy. You will laugh, oh yes you will, but the horror aspect of this movie will really be something to see. You will be shook. I promise. Y’all know I don’t play around. Get ready baby. I’m one of those people who don’t know Kid Cudi beyond Bill & Ted and X, but those lines about being a horror fan since he was 7 and Night of the Living Dead and The Evil Dead being his first horror movies have me rooting for Hell Naw. I look forward to seeing how this one is going to turn out.
