Last year, Terror Films announced that writer/director Stephen Cognetti would be continuing his found footage Hell House LLC franchise with Hell House LLC Origins: The Carmichael Manor – and earlier this month, we learned that Hell House LLC Origins: The Carmichael Manor is scheduled to begin streaming on both Shudder and AMC+ on Monday, October 30th. Before we reach that date, the film will also be screening at the 14th annual Telluride Horror Show, which will be running from October 13th to 15th. With those dates right around the corner, the trailer for Hell House LLC Origins: The Carmichael Manor has arrived online, and you can check it out in the embed above.
Terror Films refers to Hell House LLC Origins: The Carmichael Manor as “the first chapter of what will become known as the Hell House LLC Origin Films”. This one is set in 2021 and will show what happens when a group of internet sleuths travel to the remote Carmichael Manor. Located deep in the woods of Rockland County, New York, the estate is the site of the infamous 1989 Carmichael family murders that have gone unsolved to this day. What they discover are secrets that have been hidden away for decades and a terror that has been lurking in the shadows long before Hell House.
The film stars Destiny Leilani Brown (12 to Midnight), James Liddell (Island Escape), Gideon Berger (The Tannery), Cayla Berejikian (Poundcake), Victoria Andrunik (Girls5eva), Darin F. Earl II (Ripples of Water), Searra Sawka (The Impact Factor), Joe Bandelli (Cabin Fear), Rocky Glen Park director Robert Savakinus, and newcomers Bridget Rose Perrotta, Thomas J. Cipriano, Michael Caprioli, Celeste Cicon, Marlene Williams, and Dayna Michelle Kurtz.
It was produced by Joe Bandelli, with Joe Dain and Jim Klock executive producing for Terror Films Releasing.
While Hell House LLC Origins: The Carmichael Manor has previously been referred to as a prequel, that’s not an accurate description. Cognetti provided the following statement: “Although this is the fourth film in the Hell House LLC series, I want fans to know that this is not a ‘part 4’ or a prequel. In making The Carmichael Manor, I wanted to create an original story within the Hell House LLC universe yet set it in the present day instead of making a precursor to the original trilogy. As a filmmaker, The Carmichael Manor allowed me to explore some of the themes and origins from the hotel’s mythology, while introducing new characters and mysteries surrounding the events that took place in 1989 in a stand-alone origin story, one of several I hope to create.“
Cognetti has written and directed every entry in the Hell House LLC franchise, which began in 2015. Hell House LLC quickly gained a reputation as one of the best found footage movies out there. And while I’m not usually a fan of the found footage style, I have to admit that Hell House LLC was actually pretty good. I wasn’t so impressed by the 2018 sequel Hell House LLC II: The Abaddon Hotel, and still haven’t seen the 2019 entry Hell House LLC III: Lake of Fire. But I will eventually.
