Director K. Asher Levin is on a roll. Back in October, we heard that his vampire movie Slayers had secured U.S. distribution from The Avenue. Just a couple weeks later, it was announced that Saban Films will be releasing his thriller Dig, which stars Thomas Jane (who is also in Slayers) and his daughter Harlow Jane. Those movies haven’t been released yet, but Levin is already in post-production on his next film! That’s the dark comedy / murder mystery Helen’s Dead, which stars Matilda Lutz (Revenge), Emile Hirsch (Into the Wild), Dylan Gelula (Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt), Tyrese Gibson (the Fast & Furious franchise), Annabelle Dexter-Jones (Succession), Oliver Cooper (Red Oaks), and Beth Dover (Orange Is the New Black).
Written by Levin and Amy Brown Carver, Helen’s Dead has the following synopsis:
When she discovers that her boyfriend (Hirsch) is cheating on her with her cousin, Helen (Lutz), an enraged Addie (Gelula) crashes a dinner party determined to publicly confront the illicit pair only to discover the house already in chaos – Helen’s dead. Paranoid partygoers, ranging from entitled influencer (Dexter-Jones) to violent ex-con (Gibson), are on-edge with the killer still on the loose and everyone is a suspect.
The film is coming to us from The Stoked Film Group, and Screen Daily reports that 13 Films is handling the distribution sales. Levin produced alongside Ford Corbett, Daniel Cummings, Robert Dean, Todd Lundbohm, and Roy Scott MacFarland. The executive producers include Tannaz Anisi, Daniel Casillas, Grady Craig, Matthew Helderman, Greg Schenz, Jarnell Stokes, and Luke Taylor.
