With the upcoming adaptation of LES MISERABLES set to drown theaters in a sea of tears and emotion this holiday season, these new clips will serve as a reminder to bring some tissues for those that are subject to emotional outbursts. Director Tom Hooper shot the film with the actors singing on-set rather than lip synching to pre-recorded material, which is the norm for musicals, and the difference is astounding. These clips show how different the impact is when the actor isn’t basically in a “sing-a-long” and actually performing the material. It looks like the gamble will pay off in spades.
For a movie that already looks amazing, these clips serve as evidence that this will be a film to contend with and likely solidify itself as the adaptation of the long-running stage musical. And this is coming from someone who generally hates musicals. With all involved, LES MISERABLES, has stationed itself as a movie not to be missed in theaters.
