Netflix is rapidly becoming the harbinger of movies that normally wouldn’t get much attention from a larger studio. The artists have more creative freedom, and the reach of the film is more vast and immediate. Such opportunity will ensure people see Angelina Jolie’s next directorial effort, FIRST THEY KILLED MY FATHER. The film is set in Cambodia and follows the true story of a young girl forced out of her home during the brutal regime of Pol Pot. We don’t have a full trailer for the movie yet, but we have a featurette now that digs into the production of the film ready for your viewing pleasure below!
I’m not a huge fan of Jolie’s directorial efforts, IN THE LAND OF BLOOD AND HONEY and UNBROKEN, but I admire her for not choosing easy topics to adapt. All of her work, including FATHER from the look of it, deal with tough subjects and look challenging in terms of production. That alone is worthy of my ever-coveted attention, and when it debuts on Netflix I will for sure tune in. Can only watch THE OFFICE through so many times.
FIRST THEY KILLED MY FATHER should head to Netflix sometime this year.
