In news which should surprise no one, HBO has renewed Westworld for a third season just days after the airing of the second episode of the second season. "It’s been an extraordinary pleasure to work with the exceptionally talented Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy, as well as their gifted cast and crew,” said Casey Bloys, president of HBO programming. "From the inspired storytelling to the incredible visuals, we are so excited to see where the next chapter will take us."

As the second season of Westworld is still presenting its mysteries, we don't know where the third season will take us, but as a huge fan of the series, I'm quite pleased that creators Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy may very well get to play out their end-game. Westworld comes with a sizeable price-tag attached, and if the audience hadn't been there, it's unlikely that the series would have made it past the first season. James Marsden has previously claimed that Nolan and Joy have somewhere between five or six seasons already planned out, with Nolan adding that each year will be unique.
We didn’t want to have a story that repeated itself [each year]. We didn’t want the Fantasy Island version of this [where new guests arrive at the park every season]. We wanted a big story. We wanted the story of the origin of a new species and how that would play out in its complexity.
Westworld is currently airing on HBO, so be sure to check out our own Chris Bumbray's reviews of episode one and two.
