HBO releases new trailer for Lovecraft Country!

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

I've been eagerly awaiting the Jordan Peele-produced HBO horror series LOVECRAFT COUNTRY for awhile now – basically since it was first announced. I loved the novel by Mark Ruff, and felt it would make a great movie at the time (though a big-budget HBO series is just as good, if not better!) Let's just hope it can live up to the book. But if the trailer (which you can see at the top of the article) is anything to go by, we seem to be in good hands!

Here's the official synopsis:

HBO’s new drama series, based on the 2016 novel by Matt Ruff of the same name, debuts this August. The series follows Atticus Freeman (Jonathan Majors) as he joins up with his friend Letitia (Jurnee Smollett-Bell) and his Uncle George (Courtney B. Vance) to embark on a road trip across 1950s Jim Crow America in search of his missing father (Michael Kenneth Williams). This begins a struggle to survive and overcome both the racist terrors of white America and the terrifying monsters that could be ripped from a Lovecraft paperback.

Again, looks great to me! But I'v enjoyed everything Peele's been involved in (especially on the horror side), so I was already primed to like it. But at least it seems to be delivering the goods as well.

Meanwhile, LOVECRAFT COUNTRY will premiere on HBO later this year.
