HBO Max crashes for some users after debut of Zack Snyder’s Justice League

Zack Snyder's Justice League is finally here and its debut on HBO Max was so highly anticipated by fans that the streamer crashed for some users who carved out 4 hours of their life to finally watch it.

The site Downdetector, which has been pretty busy between the launch of this film and the series finale of WandaVision, saw a huge spike in reported issues with HBO Max around the time that Zack Snyder's Justice League debuted at midnight PDT and 3:00 AM ET. The spike lines up with the release time which fans in the U.S. decided to stay up into the wee hours of the morning to watch the 4-hour film.

Most of the reports had to do with the stream itself so it appears that the app was largely unaffected which adds more credence to the fact that it was Snyder's film that caused the crash. HBO subscribers in Asia were also said to be having issues as the HBO Go Asia account revealed that users were having issues streaming the film. A message on their official Twitter page addressed the issue:

"HBO GO is experiencing an unprecedented surge in traffic. We are working on a solution. To the legion of fans who are trying to watch, we are truly sorry to have let you down at this exciting time. We appreciate your patience."

Considering the built-up fan anticipation for the film, it comes as no surprise that the surge of users trying to watch the film at the same time caused issues with the stream. I have a handful of friends here in Los Angeles that started watching it as soon as it dropped at midnight and had no issues staying up for the 4-hour runtime. This is really the closest thing we've had to an "event film" in quite a bit and it can be enjoyed from the comfort of your own home. There's a level of excitement that's actually pretty cool to see and judging from the responses so far, fans seem to be thrilled with the outcome. This is a proud moment for Zack Snyder and HBO Max who is bound to see some kind of boost in subscribers as more people try to experience the film.
