Prime Video has scheduled a January 19th premiere date for their adult animated musical comedy series Hazbin Hotel – and with just one month to go before they bring this show to more than 240 countries and territories worldwide, a trailer for the series has arrived online. You can check it out in the embed above.
Created by Vivienne Medrano, Hazbin Hotel centers on Charlie, the princess of Hell, as she pursues her seemingly impossible goal of rehabilitating demons to peacefully reduce overpopulation in her kingdom. After a yearly extermination imposed by angels, she opens a hotel in the hopes that patrons will be “checking out” into Heaven. While most of Hell mocks her goal, her devoted partner Vaggie, and their first test subject, adult-film star Angel Dust, stick by her side. When a powerful entity known as the “Radio Demon” reaches out to assist Charlie in her endeavors, her crazy dream is given a chance to become a reality.
This show’s journey to Prime Video began back in 2019, when Medrano released the pilot episode through YouTube. She teamed up with freelance animators and received funding from Patreon followers to make that episode a reality. The series it has led to is produced by A24 and Fox Entertainment’s Bento Box Entertainment. Medrano executive produced alongside Joel Kuwahara, Dana Tafoya-Cameron, and Scott Greenberg, and also directed all eight episodes of the first season.
Deadline reports that the voice cast includes Erika Henningsen, Stephanie Beatriz, Alex Brightman, Keith David, Kimiko Glenn, Blake Roman, Amir Talai, Christian Borle, Joel Perez, Darren Criss, Jeremy Jordan, Daphne Rubin-Vega, Patina Miller, and Jessica Vosk.
The series features original music and lyrics from platinum-certified Sam Haft and Emmy-nominated Andrew Underberg. One of their songs, “Ready For This”, can be heard in the trailer.

Animation Magazine notes that “the first two episodes will be available to stream on the A24 App one week before they release on Prime Video, along with a virtual Q&A event with Vivienne Medrano and special guests.”
