Hawkeye premiered last Wednesday ahead of Thanksgiving and it looks like it did solid business on Disney+ for its first two episodes, although it did fall a bit behind other Disney+ Marvel TV shows on the streamer.
The first episode of Marvel’s Hawkeye on Disney+ drew 1.5 million U.S. households over the Wednesday-Sunday holiday period, while 1.3 million U.S. households stuck around and watched the second episode. The news comes to us from Samba TV which also indicates that the first episode number for Hawkeye fell behind the 5-day U.S. household viewership figure for Disney+/Marvel’s Loki which was watched by 2.5 million U.S. households over June 9-13 by -40%. You can check out Samba TV’s post about Hawkeye’s viewership below!
Hawkeye‘s premiere episode also ranks behind Loki‘s season finale which pulled in 1.9 U.S. households over five days. Hawkeye‘s 5-day also trails behind the 3-day premieres of Disney+/Marvel’s Falcon and the Winter Soldier (1.8 million U.S. households) and WandaVision (1.6 million U.S. households). At the end of the day, this is a strong showing and those previous shows didn’t premiere right before the holiday when potential viewers were likely on the move for Thanksgiving.
Hawkeye has received stellar reviews from critics at 93% fresh on Rotten Tomatoes while the audience score stands at a healthy 84%. The series follows Kate Bishop (Hailee Steinfeld) as she takes up the bow and arrow and title of the Avenger Hawkeye, as she encounters the original hero Clint Barton (Jeremy Renner) in NYC while he’s on holiday with his family. Appearing alongside Renner and Steinfeld in Hawkeye are Vera Farmiga, Tony Dalton, Alaqua Cox, Zahn McClarnon, Brian d’Arcy James, and Fra Fee.
Did YOU check out the first two episodes of Hawkeye? The six-episode series will drop new episodes every Wednesday until its finale on December 22, 2021.
