Grab your fanciest trick arrows and some cloves of garlic for the tracksuit Draculas because Marvel’s Hawkeye TV spot is teasing plenty of superhero fun for the holidays. Disney+ unveiled plans today to launch the first two episodes of Marvel Studios’ Hawkeye when the highly anticipated six-episode event debuts exclusively on the streamer on November 24. Subsequent episodes will launch each week on Wednesday.
Marvel Studios’ new Hawkeye TV spot offers fans a glimpse of Clint Barton (Jeremy Renner) and fellow archer Kate Bishop (Hailee Steinfeld) in action. Taking plenty of inspiration from Matt Fraction and David Aja’s critically acclaimed comic book series, Hawkeye looks to hit Clint where it hurts, and possibly take him out of the superhero game for good. Hawkeye will also introduce Echo, a deaf Native American character set to be played by Alaqua Cox in the upcoming series.
Helmed by Rhys Thomas and directing duo Bert and Bertie, Hawkeye is an original new series set in post-blip New York City where former Avenger Clint Barton aka Hawkeye has a seemingly simple mission: get back to his family for Christmas. But when a threat from his past shows up, Hawkeye reluctantly teams up with Kate Bishop, a 22-year-old skilled archer, and his biggest fan, to unravel a criminal conspiracy. The series also features Vera Farmiga, Fra Fee, Tony Dalton, Zahn McClarnon, Brian d’Arcy James, and newcomer Alaqua Cox as Maya Lopez.
The new Hawkeye TV spot has got it all, folks! I’m talking about angry mobs, a Broadway show, a giant Christmas tree, car chases, harrowing escapes, and more holiday cheer than a Miracle on 34th Street marathon.
While Clint Barton has been featured in many films across the Marvel Cinematic Universe, one could argue that the character has never truly had a chance to shine. Overshadowed by many of his fellow Avengers, Clint Barton remains a powerless, wise-cracking marksman who isn’t afraid to dive headlong into one life-threatening situation after the next. I hope that Hawkeye gives Clint a chance to shine before he inevitably passes the torch to his new sharp-shooting partner, Kate Bishop.
