Shia Labeouf and Megan Fox/Rosie Huntington-Whiteley out, Nicola Peltz (THE LAST AIRBENDER) and Brenton Thwaites (BLUE LAGOON: THE AWAKENING) in alongside Mark Wahlberg?
That seems to be the rumored word out of Twitch today, something still unconfirmed by Michael Bay or Paramount (though Peltz was on the initial audition list). But if true, the studio’s planned new trilogy certainly won’t be at a loss for a new set of pretty faces to plaster over everything Transformers-related. While you may not know their work now (as you probably tried to forget THE LAST AIRBENDER), Peltz has “Bates Motel” coming up on the horizon while Thwaites stars alongside Angelina Jolie in MALEFICENT. Though Thwaites’ credit probably won’t help initiate him into the greater movie-goer’s awareness all that much as the fairy tale update arrives in theaters just three months before the June 27th, 2014 date for TRANSFORMERS 4. Insofar as (albeit limited) character description goes, Peltz would “play Wahlberg’s daughter in the film while the Australian Thwaites [would] play Peltz’s biker boyfriend.” Oh the comedic possibilities, especially with Marky Mark’s “grumpy father” quips and stares. I just die for joy.
We’ll let you know if and when this information is substantiated or denied by Bay and Paramount. In the meantime, what are your feelings on the direction of the Transformers franchise these days – are they the same? Or have they changed at all, and if so, from what to what?
