Hatchet gets R

Last Updated on July 27, 2021

It seems with the new “make it as gory as you can” trend in Hollywood that filmmakers theses days are pushing their films to the brink of the “R” rating and the “NC-17” rating. More and more we are hearing rumors about how a film might end up with the dreaded “NC-17” rating, which of course would kill their overall grosses. Such has been the case with Anchor Bay’s film HATCHET. For a while now we’ve been reading all the rumors that have been floating around the internet that Adam Green’s gore epic was going to be stamped with the ole’ “NC-17” brand. But worry now more HATCHET fans, as according to the film’s Official Myspace page, the film is in the clear and now ready to go with an MPAA licensed “R” rating.

The road to the “R” rating has been a long one for the boys behind the film, as it took several submissions and an appeal to the MPAA before they scored what they wanted, the “R” rating. According to the Official Myspace page, the “R” rating is due to “extreme gory bloody horror violence, sexual conduct, nudity and language,” which is what we all ultimately want, right?

For obvious reasons, I personally wouldn’t mind seeing this chick in an NC-17 flick…
