Has the official title for Chris Rock’s Saw reboot been revealed?

While much of the details concerning Chris Rock's SAW reboot have yet to be released from their restraints, it's possible that the title for director Darren Lynn Bousman’s ninth installment of the franchise has been revealed. Recently while trying to guess the title of the upcoming film over on Reddit, SAW fans have become convinced that the title for Rock's horror reboot is SPIRAL: FROM THE BOOK OF SAW. Now, while some could argue that this is simply a matter of fans feeling the need to finally attach a name to this highly-anticipated project, it's worth noting that the title appears on the website of the film’s Canadian distributor Mongrel Media. Personally, I would still take this reveal with a grain of salt, at least until the movie's title is officially confirmed by the powers that be.

The untitled reboot hails from a story by Chris Rock, who will co-star in the film alongside Samuel L. Jackson. In what we know about their characters so far, Rock is slated to play a police detective whose job it is to investigate a series malicious murders, while Jackson will step into the role of his father. Joining them for this curious re-tooling of the horror franchise that captured the interest of millions for more than a decade, are Max Minghella who will play Rock's partner, William Schenk, and Marisol Nichols, who will star as Capt. Angie Garza, Rock's superior officer and boss.

Directed by Darren Lynn Bousman, Rock's untitled Saw project will be produced by Mark Burg and Oren Koules. The story for this latest installment to the series was conceived by Rock and written by Pete Goldfinger and Josh Stolberg. In addition to starring in the film, Rock will also executive produce alongside Daniel Heffner, James Wan, and Leigh Whannell.

What say you about the possible title for Rock's Saw reboot? Do you think it's legit or are you waiting to hear an official word before accepting it as an absolute truth? For me, I think they could call this movie whatever they damn well please and I'd still be interested. The very thought of Rock and Jackson being attached to this film has me more than curious, and I'm eager to discover what manner of horror chops Rock has hiding beneath his ofttimes comedic demeanor.
