Harvey Weinstein is not a guy who is shy about giving his opinion. He definitely didn’t hold back when it came to discussing his new project with Meryl Streep, THE SENATOR’S WIFE.
When Weinstein went on Howard Stern‘s Sirius XM show, he was ready to ruffle more than a few feathers within the National Rifle Association. This is what he said:
We’re going to take this issue head on, and they’re going to wish they weren’t alive after I’m done with them. It’s going to be like crash and burn.”
As you may have guessed, Weinstein isn’t exactly the gun toting type:
I never want to have a gun. I don’t think we need guns in this country, and I hate it, and I think the NRA is a disaster
area.
I believe that film can be used as a very powerful voice. I mean, look at a documentary like BLACKFISH that’s caused an uproar over the treatment of orcas at Sea World. But can a non-doc like THE SENATOR’S WIFE make a splash with a group like the NRA?
Currently, no director or writer is attached to the project.
