Harrison Ford says that no one should play Indiana Jones after him

After RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK, THE TEMPLE OF DOOM, THE LAST CRUSADE, and KINGDOM OF THE CRYSTAL SKULL, Harrison Ford is set to reprise his iconic role of Indiana Jones in a fifth installment of the long-running franchise, but as with most popular characters, there have frequently been talks of who should take over the mantle of Indiana Jones after Ford hangs up the fedora and bullwhip

While speaking on The Today Show to promote THE SECRET LIFE OF PETS 2, Harrison Ford was asked who should replace him as Indiana Jones, and the actor frankly expressed just how irreplaceable he is.

Nobody else is gonna be Indiana Jones! Don’t you get it? I’m Indiana Jones. When I’m gone, he’s gone. It’s easy… This is a hell of a way to tell Chris Pine this.

The actor likely meant to say Chris Pratt (JURASSIC WORLD), who has long been rumoured to take on the role, but Chris Pine wouldn't be a bad choice either I suppose. We've certainly become quite accustomed to new actors stepping into the roles of beloved characters, and while there's certainly room for more adventures with Indiana Jones, this is one character that I hope they leave alone once Steven Spielberg, George Lucas, and Harrison Ford call it quits. As with Ford, Spielberg has previously said that he doesn't see anyone else taking on Indiana Jones either "I don't think anyone could replace Harrison as Indy, I don't think that's ever going to happen," Spielberg said. "It's certainly not my intention to ever have another actor step into his shoes in the way there have been many actors that have played Spider-Man or Batman. There is only going to be one actor playing Indiana Jones and that's Harrison Ford." What do you think? Does Indiana Jones have a future without Harrison Ford or should it end with him?

At the moment, INDIANA JONES 5 is slated for a July 9, 2021 release.
