Harrison Ford is heading to television. In what will be his first ongoing TV series role, he’ll be joining Jason Segel in the Apple TV+ comedy series, Shrinking, per The Hollywood Reporter.
The series comes from Ted Lasso producers Bill Lawrence and Brett Goldstein and Jason Segel. The show was picked up back in October 2021 and it centers on a grieving therapist (Jason Segel) who begins to break the rules and tell his clients exactly what he thinks. As he ignores his training and ethics, he finds himself making huge changes to people’s lives and his own.
Harrison Ford is on board to play Dr. Phil Rhodes who is described as a “down to earth and sharp blue-collar shrink and pioneer in cognitive behavioral therapy. He shares a practice with two of his protégés, Jimmy (Segel) and Gaby, and has recently been diagnosed with Parkinson’s, which forces him out of his comfort zone as he deals with intrusive friends, his estranged family, and his legacy.”
Ford has made a few guest appearances on TV shows in the 1960s and ’70s and reprised his iconic role of Indiana Jones on The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles back in 1993. This will be his first series regular role on television as he enters another stage of a very successful career.
