Harrison Ford hurt in Millennium Falcon-related injury on Star Wars set

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

Go ahead and say it: I have a bad feeling about this.

Harrison Ford, reprising his famous role of Han Solo in J.J. Abrams‘ STAR WARS: EPISODE VII, hurt his ankle on set and was taken to a local hospital. While it does not appear serious, Ford will be out of commission for an unspecified length of time during which filming on the highly anticipated movie will continue. Ironically or not, sources tell The Hollywood Reporter that the injury was sustained due to an issue with the door on the Millennium Falcon. The Falcon being included in the new film was part of rumors for a long time and officially confirmed by a tweet from Abrams himself last week.

STAR WARS: EPISODE VII has been under highly scrutinized security since filming began several weeks ago with some images leaking online. To this day we still do not have an official plot synopsis or character listing for the film. Abrams’ trademark secrecy seems to be working but for how long we do not know. Hopefully we will learn more soon.

In STAR WARS-related news, Disney’s first STAR WARS tie in product now has an official release date. Disney Channel series PHINEAS AND FERB will air a STAR WARS special episode on July 26th that features the titular brothers in a parallel universe that drops them into the events from A NEW HOPE. MYTHBUSTERS Adam Savage and Jamie Hyneman will guest star as officers of the Galactic Empire while Simon Pegg will voice a Rebel officer and C-3PO as well. Pegg was the subject of rumors himself for a secret role in STAR WARS: EPISODE VII. Coincidence?

STAR WARS: EPISODE VII hits theaters on December 18, 2015.
