Happy Birthday, JAWS!
You know, it's been a while since we've done one of these Happy Birthday posts here at AITH and what better time to bring the series back than with what is debatably the greatest horror film ever made: JAWS.
I don't know about you but JAWS is still the reason that I don't like going to the beach. Or swimming in pools. Or taking baths. Or drinking water from large glasses…
I re-watched ALL of the films in the JAWS series recently while editing The Kill Counter: Jaws Quadrilogy (which you can find below) and let me tell you, while some of the sequels (not you, JAWS: THE REVENGE) hold up pretty well nowadays – with JAWS 2 being an especially fun time at the movies aka the slasher flick of killer fish movies – the original is still untouchable for pure fear.
I hear that music, I get scared. I think of that fin cresting the water, I get terrified. When the image of that dude with the hairy legs getting eaten sideways by Jaws in the estuary pops into my head, I hide for days. Brr. That image is still quite possible the scariest thing I have ever seen in a movie.
Jason running across the road in FRIDAY THE 13TH: PART 2 is a close second.
Anyways, join us here at AITH today and let's all wish Steven Spielberg's classic the biggest Happy Birthday we can muster. After all the film deserves ALL the love we can give, plus some. Below you will find a series of cool bits of art I found for the film, along with some choice BTS pics and, again, the Kill Counter: Jaws Quadrilogy video I edited this past week.
After checking out all of the cool shite below, make sure to head over to social media and let us know which scene YOU think is the scariest from the original JAWS on Facebook, Twitter, and/or Instagram!
Enjoy!
