Jason Zada's THE FOREST has a slick new poster showing off the dark themes of the plot. The film, which stars Game of Thrones' Natalie Dormer and Chicago Fire's Taylor Kinney, is the second of two upcoming films (the other being Gus Van Sant's THE SEA OF TREES) about the Japanese Aokigahara Forest at the base of Mr. Fuji, a spectuacularly common site for suicide that earned it the name the Suicide Foest.
The coolest thing about the poster is that it eschews the generic horror poster tendencies. It avoids black and red, using a bright design to contrast with the image's macabre undercurrent, much in the vein of the one sheets for the SAW franchise.
THE FOREST tells the story of a young American woman who goes in search of her twin sister, who has mysteriously disappeared. Despite everyone’s warnings to “stay on the path,” Sara enters the forest determined to discover the truth about her sister’s fate, only to be confronted by the angry and tormented souls of the dead who prey on anyone who wanders into the forest.
