It feels a little strange that we're getting yet another STAR WARS film so soon after the release of STAR WARS: THE LAST JEDI, but here we are, just several months away from the release of SOLO: A STAR WARS STORY. I wasn't entirely sure what to expect from the upcoming film, especially considering its troubled production history, but as we've begun to see more of it, I'm starting to come around to the whole idea. At the very least, it looks as though it will be an entertaining ride. A new international poster for the Ron Howard flick has been released, which finds Han Solo (Alden Ehrenreich) and Chewbacca (Joonas Suotamo) striking a pose into front of the Millennium Falcon.

As weird as it is to see someone else step into the well-worn boots of Han Solo after decades of associating Harrison Ford with the role, it's just as strange to see the Millennium Falcon looking not quite right. We'll likely see the vessel begin to transform into the "piece of junk" we all know and love at some point during SOLO: A STAR WARS STORY, but when the movie begins, the Falcon is in the hands of Lando Calrissian (Donald Glover). Co-writer Jon Kasdan has said that "the Falcon should always reflect the personality of its captain," which in the case of Lando, means that the Falcon is as much a party ship as it is a cargo vessel. "Where Han gave it a certain shabby coolness and a dinged up quality that reflected where he was at that point in his life, this Falcon reflects its owner very clearly in its shape and aesthetic and his needs, even if those needs be a little more space to entertain," Kasdan said. Once Han Solo (Alden Ehrenreich) gets his hands on the Falcon and starts installing a few of those "special modifications," the ship will begin to more closely resemble the one we're introduced to in A NEW HOPE. Although it may not look quite as pristine, Alden Ehrenreich has teased that the dirt and grime may serve as some sort of galactic camouflage.

It’s safer in the galaxy to fly something that looks like a piece of junk. People underestimate you — especially if you’re up to no good. Kinda like how you’re more likely to get pulled over if you’re driving a Lamborghini.

SOLO: A STAR WARS STORY will hit theaters on May 25, 2018.
