Not to be confused with the Reggie Bannister-starring film of the same name, director John Pogue’s supernatural thriller THE QUIET ONES has just inked a deal with Lionsgate U.K. for the British rights to the film, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
We last updated you on THE QUIET ONES back in May of last year when it was announced that Sam Claflin had joined the cast. The film, which was also scripted by Pogue, has just wrapped and marks the second film from British production banner Hammer Films, which last year broke British box office records with the Daniel Radcliffe starring THE WOMAN IN BLACK.
Inspired by true events, the movie details the story of an unorthodox but charismatic professor who uses controversial methods and leads his best students off the grid to take part in a dangerous experiment: to create a poltergeist from negative human energy.
THE QUIET ONES stars Jared Harris, Sam Claflin, Erin Richards, Olivia Cooke and Rory Fleck-Byrne.
Exclusive Media president of international sales and distribution Alex Walton says of the deal,
“Lionsgate has a phenomenal reputation for releasing quality supernatural and genre titles and we are thrilled to be working with them on THE QUIET ONES. Buyers have been responding really well to this unique twist on a classic poltergeist story, and we anticipate closing the remaining deals on the film at the European Film Market in Berlin.”
With movement on the films sales overseas we could very well be hearing news on a North American deal very soon. With a creepy plotline, Pogue at the helm, and a stellar cast, THE QUIET ONES sounds to be a frightening good time. We’ll keep you posted on the film as the news comes in!
