Halo flick closer


I know the success rate of video games adapted into movies…and it isn’t good. But I think that a movie version of the insanely popular video game HALO has got a lot of potential, right? I mean just think of the gore factor on this, with all the aliens being blown to bits and soldiers getting ripped to shreds by the weird creatures; that sounds like it makes sense for a good flick. And if the studio could secure the services of Guillermo Del Toro, as rumored, the flick would have my vote of approval for sure. But unfortunately the project has suffered many pre-production woes, many of which have to do with licensing.

But the good news for video game junkies is that one hurdle in the licensing battles has been cleared, as Variety reports that “the studio will handle worldwide merchandise licensing for “Halo” on behalf of the tech giant.” What that all translates to is that the new partnership should ease the obstacles in the way, and make it easier for this film to finally get made.

I’m optimistic that this film will take a dark approach instead of lightening up the film for a broader audience, because ultimately HALO has got the potential for some cheap scares and great thrills.
