When HALLOWEEN KILLS makes its way to theaters in October of 2021, the residents of Haddonfield will have much to say about Michael Myers' reign of terror.
Recently while speaking with Total Film (via Games Radar) Halloween reboot writer/director David Gordon Green revealed that the sequel is taking a "go big or go home" approach to recognizing the carnage that the masked slasher unleashed in the director's 2018 smash hit.
If the first film was somewhat retelling the origin of Myers and getting us up to speed with where Laurie had been all those years, then part two is about the outrage of Haddonfield. Mob Rules was our working title for the film. It’s about a community that is united by outrage and divided in how to deal with evil.
In addition to speaking on how the citizens of Haddonfield will appear divided by Michael's actions in the reboot, Green also assured his audience that the sequel will feature less humor than the 2018 release. Apparently, some fans were of the mind that the reboot didn't take itself seriously enough, though I don't recall there being too many chuckles rippling through the theater when Myers was officially on the prowl. Be that as it may, Green wants the next film in the series to terrify fans in new and fantastic ways, so don't forget to wear your brown pants, y'all.
Unfortunately, it's going to be quite a while before HALLOWEEN KILLS arrives in theaters. Originally, the sequel was expected to hit cinemas on October 16, 2020. However, due to complications brought on by the coronavirus, the film is now set for an October 15, 2021 premiere, with the final film in the trilogy, HALLOWEEN ENDS, now set for October 14, 2022.
Directed by David Gordon Green, HALLOWEEN KILLS stars Jamie Lee Curtis, Judy Greer, Andi Matichak, Anthony Michael Hall, Kyle Richards, Omar J. Dorsey, Dylan Arnold, and Nick Castle as The Shape.
