Halloween Kills: Nick Castle’s one scene cameo was cut out

For Halloween 2018 (watch it HERE), director David Gordon Green brought Nick Castle, who played Michael Myers in the original Halloween, back to the role for a quick shot where franchise heroine Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis) sees the killer’s reflection in a mirror. Building up to the release of the sequel Halloween Kills (now in theatres and on the Peacock streaming service), we heard that Castle had another one scene cameo as Myers in the new film. After fans watched the movie, they were left wondering where Castle was… and as it turns out, he wasn’t in there. His cameo moment was cut.

Halloween Kills makeup effects designer Christopher Nelson and Sean Clark of Horror’s Hallowed Grounds confirmed that Castle didn’t make it to the screen on the latest episode of their show The Thing with Two Heads – and Clark even described the moment we missed out on:

People keep asking what scene Nick Castle was in. He was in a scene that got cut, that’s supposedly gonna be on the DVD or Blu-ray. It was a POV shot from the drone going into the bathroom and you see his reflection in the mirror. That was the shot.”

If you’ve seen Halloween Kills, you’ll know exactly what scene that was as soon as a drone is mentioned. A couple is shown playing around with a drone, then they discover that Michael Myers is tending to his wounds in their bathroom. It’s unfortunate that the shot of Castle wasn’t in the finished film, but there is still a touch of Castle to the movie, as he did all of the breathing sounds for Michael Myers.

Halloween 2018 ignored all of the other Halloween movies except for Carpenter’s original (watch that HERE). Directed by Green from a screenplay he wrote with Danny McBride and Scott Teems, Halloween Kills (read our review at THIS LINK) is set on the same night as its predecessor.

Minutes after Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis), her daughter Karen (Judy Greer) and granddaughter Allyson (Andi Matichak) left masked monster Michael Myers caged and burning in Laurie’s basement, Laurie is rushed to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, believing she finally killed her lifelong tormentor. But when Michael manages to free himself from Laurie’s trap, his ritual bloodbath resumes. As Laurie fights her pain and prepares to defend herself against him, she inspires all of Haddonfield to rise up against their unstoppable monster. The Strode women join a group of other survivors of Michael’s first rampage who decide to take matters into their own hands, forming a vigilante mob that sets out to hunt Michael down, once and for all. Evil dies tonight.

The cast includes Jamie Lee Curtis as Laurie Strode, James Jude Courtney as Michael Myers, Judy Greer as Laurie’s daughter Karen, Andi Matichak as Laurie’s granddaughter Allyson, Robert Longstreet as Lonnie Elam (a character from the original film), Dylan Arnold reprising the role of Allyson’s boyfriend / Lonnie’s son Cameron, Jibrail Nantambu as Halloween 2018 scene stealer Julian, Omar Dorsey as Sheriff Barker, Nancy Stephens back in her Halloween, Halloween II, and Halloween H20 role of Marion Chambers, Charles Cyphers back as Brackett, Will Patton as Deputy Hawkins, Carmela McNeal and Michael Smallwood as “Sexy Nurse” Vanessa and “Hunky Doctor” Marcus, Anthony Michael Hall as Tommy Doyle, and Kyle Richards returning to the role of Lindsey Wallace. Newcomers include Brian F. Durkin as Deputy Graham and child actress Victoria Paige Watkins as Christy.
