Halloween Kills: Michael Myers double previously played Jason Voorhees

James Jude Courtney played Michael Myers in the 2018 Halloween (watch it HERE), and reprises the role in Halloween Kills, which is now in theatres and available to watch on the Peacock streaming service. While Courtney is the primary Myers throughout Halloween Kills, sometimes it was necessary to put the mask on someone else during filming. Stunt coordinator Airon Armstrong played Myers in the flashbacks to 1978, and 2018 Myers needed a stunt double as well. That double was Douglas Tait – and this wasn’t Tait’s first time playing an iconic slasher. Eighteen years ago, Tait had the chance to play Jason Voorhees in the final shot of Freddy vs. Jason (watch that HERE). Tait was Jason when he emerges from the lake carrying Freddy Krueger’s severed head.

So Tait has played Jason, played Michael, and carried Freddy’s head. As it that weren’t impressive enough, he also has almost 100 other credits to his name, including playing characters in Star Trek projects, a Sleestak in Land of the Lost, creatures on Grimm, the werewolf in Annabelle Comes Home, Gruagach in Hellboy 2019, The Pathologist on Teen Wolf, a Kree trooper on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., a few characters on Legacies, The Brute in The Girl in the Woods, etc.

You can see behind-the-scenes images of Tait as Michael Myers HERE and HERE.

Of course, this isn’t the first time the worlds of Friday the 13th and Halloween have collided. Halloween II‘s Michael Myers Dick Warlock was stunt coordinator on Friday the 13th: A New Beginning, and Friday the 13th: A New Beginning‘s Jason Voorhees / Roy Burns Tom Morga was Michael Myers in some moments of Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers. But it’s still so cool when it happens that it’s worth mentioning.

Fans who pay close attention to who’s wearing the masks of their favorite slashers probably already knew about Douglas Tait’s involvement with both Halloween Kills and Freddy vs. Jason, since he has already made at least one convention appearance since the release of Halloween Kills.

Directed by David Gordon Green, Halloween 2018 ignored all of the other Halloween movies except for Carpenter’s original (watch that HERE). Directed by Green from a screenplay he wrote with Danny McBride and Scott Teems, Halloween Kills (read our review at THIS LINK) is set on the same night as its predecessor.

Minutes after Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis), her daughter Karen (Judy Greer) and granddaughter Allyson (Andi Matichak) left masked monster Michael Myers caged and burning in Laurie’s basement, Laurie is rushed to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, believing she finally killed her lifelong tormentor. But when Michael manages to free himself from Laurie’s trap, his ritual bloodbath resumes. As Laurie fights her pain and prepares to defend herself against him, she inspires all of Haddonfield to rise up against their unstoppable monster. The Strode women join a group of other survivors of Michael’s first rampage who decide to take matters into their own hands, forming a vigilante mob that sets out to hunt Michael down, once and for all. Evil dies tonight.

The cast includes Jamie Lee Curtis as Laurie Strode, James Jude Courtney as Michael Myers, Judy Greer as Laurie’s daughter Karen, Andi Matichak as Laurie’s granddaughter Allyson, Robert Longstreet as Lonnie Elam (a character from the original film), Dylan Arnold reprising the role of Allyson’s boyfriend / Lonnie’s son Cameron, Jibrail Nantambu as Halloween 2018 scene stealer Julian, Omar Dorsey as Sheriff Barker, Nancy Stephens back in her HalloweenHalloween II, and Halloween H20 role of Marion Chambers, Charles Cyphers back as Brackett, Will Patton as Deputy Hawkins, Carmela McNeal and Michael Smallwood as “Sexy Nurse” Vanessa and “Hunky Doctor” Marcus, Anthony Michael Hall as Tommy Doyle, and Kyle Richards returning to the role of Lindsey Wallace. Newcomers include Brian F. Durkin as Deputy Graham and child actress Victoria Paige Watkins as Christy.

Original Michael Myers performer Nick Castle was meant to have a one scene cameo in the film, but his moment didn’t end up in the final cut.

Green, McBride, and Curtis also serve as executive producers on Halloween Kills alongside Couper Samuelson and John Carpenter. Jason Blum produced with Malek Akkad.
