Halloween horror flick The Harvesters begins principal photography

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

Some cool news coming out of Oklahoma today, where a spate of horror movies (HELLRAISER: JUDGMENT, CHILDREN OF THE CORN: RUNAWAY) recently called their home of late. THE HARVESTERS, the Kickstarter-funded picture that claims our own James “Jimmy O” Oster as one of its producers, commenced production in the Sooner State on Monday, April 4th.

Production is expected to last until April 24th and will take place exclusively in Oklahoma in towns such as Tuttle, Newcastle, Purcell, Macomb, and director Nick Sanford’s hometown of Moore.

On Halloween in Baileyville, Oklahoma, a journalist who prides herself on objective reporting discovers that she is trapped in the middle of a series of horrifying murders and disappearances. When the terror intensifies and a countdown begins, the people closest to Jane are put in danger and her journalistic stance on “not becoming the story” is put to the ultimate test.

The film received attention for raising its entire $30,000 budget on Kickstarter that included unusual rewards such as a Literal Social Media Shoutout and a haunted ghost tour with the cast and crew, all in a state not immediately known for large-scale, grass-roots filmmaking. “This is something special,” adds co-producer James Oster, “THE HARVESTERS is a truly homegrown horror story. The idea of bringing Oklahoma to life in such an exciting and terrifying way is something that is truly exhilarating to be a part of.”

Check out the opening scene below and the film’s official site HERE. You’ll be hearing more about the film in the coming months.
