A new episode of our video series Deconstructing… has just been released, and with the Halloween holiday coming up this week end it should come as no surprise that the classic horror film we’ve chosen to dig into with this episode is John Carpenter’s 1978 masterpiece Halloween (watch that HERE). Check out the Deconstructing… video embedded above to find out what can be unearthed about Halloween as we dig into some curious facts, rumors, fan theories, and trivia. If you don’t think there’s anything that can be said about this movie that hasn’t already been said a thousand times before, you might be surprised.
Directed by Carpenter from a screenplay he wrote with Debra Hill, the original Halloween has the following synopsis:
THE NIGHT HE CAME HOME! Fifteen years after murdering his sister on Halloween Night 1963, Michael Myers escapes from a mental hospital and returns to the small town of Haddonfield, Illinois to kill again.
The film stars Donald Pleasence, Jamie Lee Curtis, P.J. Soles, Nancy Kyes, Charles Cyphers, Kyle Richards, Brian Andrews, John Michael Graham, Nancy Stephens, and Nick Castle.
Deconstructing… is a monthly web series in which
we choose one of your favorite horror movies and take it apart piece by piece (lovingly, of course) to see what makes it a classic. Each episode examines the origins, legacy and mysteries behind our beloved genre’s most iconic titles… but we play fast and loose with the rules, so expect the unexpected!
The show is Written, Edited, and Narrated by Gregory Burkart, Produced by John Fallon, and Executive Produced by Berge Garabedian.
