With all the great and wonderful characters which inhabit the X-Men universe, you'd think Fox would be cranking out more X-Men films focused on individual characters. Aside from the pre-existing Wolverine-centric films, the rest of the X-Men Cinematic Universe has primarily dealt with the whole team. Is there a chance for more films based on individual X-Men characters? Storm actress Halle Berry hopes that there is because she would do a Storm-centric X-Men film "in a heartbeat."
Halle Berry, who is at San Diego Comic-Con to promote the second season of Extant, was asked by Deadline if she would be interested in doing a Storm movie:
In a heartbeat. In a heartbeat I would do a Storm movie. I love that character through and through. So if that ever became an opportunity for me if it’s before I’m 65-years old I would absolutely do that.
Berry has appeared as Storm in X-MEN, X2, X-MEN: THE LAST STAND, and X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST with Alexandra Shipp appearing as a younger version of the character in the upcoming X-MEN: APOCALYPSE, so Fox obviously wants to keep Storm around. Halle Berry urged the fans to speak up if a Storm film is something they'd like to see.
Well, I think they should do it. If the fans want that the fans need to speak up and I’m sure it would be a possibility. If Fox felt like they could make money off of a Storm movie I’m sure they would do it.
While I do like the character of Storm, I haven't always been convinced by Halle Berry's portrayal of her. The franchise seems as though it has been afraid to give us the bad-ass mohawked Storm many of us want, although Alexandra Shipp did shave her head last month, teasing that a mohawked Storm may finally be in our future. With both DEADPOOL and GAMBIT in the works, the likelihood of more X-Men characters getting their own standalone films seems possible.
Are you interested in a Storm-centric film and would you want Halle Berry to return to the role?
