In less than a month, STXfilms was expected to release Guy Ritchie’s Operation Fortune: Ruse de Guerre, but it seems that the action comedy has been pulled from the schedule.
Operation Fortune: Ruse de Guerre was initially supposed to be released on January 21st before it was pushed to March 18th. STXfilms announced that Operation Fortune has been removed from the release schedule and is now “unset” and the official site merely says, “coming soon.” The film stars Jason Statham as super soy Orson Fortune. Together with his team of operatives, Fortune must recruit Hollywood’s biggest movie star to help them on an undercover mission to stop the sale of a deadly new weapons technology that threatens to disrupt the world order.
With The Batman set to hit theaters on March 4th, the month is now mostly devoid of major big-screen releases. Stay out of the Dark Knight’s way. As it stands now, the biggest theatrical release aside from The Batman is The Lost City starring Sandra Bullock and Channing Tatum. The action/romantic-comedy flick will hit theaters on March 25th. We’ve also got Turning Red debuting on Disney+ on March 11th as well as The Adam Project launching on Netflix the same day.
The official synopsis for Operation Fortune: Ruse de Guerre:
In the film, super spy Orson Fortune (Jason Statham) must track down and stop the sale of a deadly new weapons technology wielded by billionaire arms broker Greg Simmonds (Hugh Grant). Reluctantly teamed with some of the world’s best operatives (Aubrey Plaza, Cary Elwes, Bugzy Malone), Fortune and his crew recruit Hollywood’s biggest movie star Danny Francesco (Josh Hartnett) to help them on their globe-trotting undercover mission to save the world.
It’s not clear when Operation Fortune will be released now, but hopefully we’ll find out soon.
