Guy Ritchie has found his Guinevere for his King Arthur movie

The principal cast for Guy Ritchie‘s KNIGHTS OF THE ROUNDTABLE: KING ARTHUR continues to fall into place. Aside from SONS OF ANARCHY’s Charlie Hunnam as Arthur and PACIFIC RIM’s Idris Elba as his mentor Bedivere, the Warner Bros franchise-starter has now found it’s Guinevere. PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: ON STRANGER TIDES actress Astrid Berges-Frisbey will take on the role of Arthur’s true love.

Berges-Frisbey was most recently seen in I ORIGINS but her biggest exposure was through the Johnny Depp pirate film where she played a mermaid. Ritchie will helm KNIGHTS OF THE ROUNDTABLE: KING ARTHUR after completing work on THE MAN FROM U.N.C.L.E. starring Armie Hammer and Henry Cavill. This take on the British myth was originally laid out as a six film series with the first focusing on the young Arthur Pendragon’s ascent to the throne. Elba’s character will serve in a similar capacity to Merlin in the traditional tale. It is unknown how much supernatural aspects such as magic will be a part of the film series.

In the classic tale, Arthur is eventually betrayed by Guinevere and his second-in-command, Lancelot. The film has not announced any further casting, but expect to hear more as production begins next year to be ready for the planned July 22, 2016 release date.
