You remember a few months back when it was announced THQ was dropping Guillermo Del Toro’s INSANE from its development roster? Well, good news, everyone– the game has finally been picked up by another developer! Hooray!
In a recent interview, Del Toro reports his survival-horror game INSANE will be making its home at a yet-to-be-disclosed company: “We were going to go to a lot of developers after THQ, but it seems like we’re going to be developing it after the first meeting we had. I can’t disclose where it was, but we went to a great developer on the first meeting and it seems that they’re picking it up because they love the package.”
Del Toro’s Lovecraftian horror saga is part of a proposed trilogy, but it seems that the visionary may be scaling that plan back in favor of wrapping up the current game: “I think seeing the environments and what it is– we are now very gladly free of the economic crisis. I think we’re going to concentrate on making it a great game and then we’ll see. Obviously, among the assets was that idea, so I think there’s a possibility. But we are not exploring it.”
Del Toro has previously said that Valve was at the top of his wish list for a new INSANE developer– could the two possibly have hooked up to finish the game? As for now we can only speculate until more news trickles down the pipeline.
